The Beginning....
Justin
Marshall was born on August 5th 1973. He left school at the age
of 16 to work a sawmill, moving on latter to the freezing works in Gore
with his father.
He first made the NPC division 2 team, southland in 1992 at the tender age of 18. He stayed with southland until 1994.
In the mean time Marshall was also selected for the 1992 New Zealand under 19's, and the 1993-1994 New Zealand colts that.
In 1995 he made the jump to Canterbury province which was when his professional career really took off.

In
his 2005 biography Justin chose the following set of lines to describe
himself. These lines capture the personality he portrayed through
his playing very well.
On the day I was born
the nurses all gathered around.
They gazed in wide wonder
at the joy they had found.
The head nurse spoke up.
She said, 'Leave this one alone.'
She could tell right away
that i was bad to the bone.
